Political scientist Mutahi Ngunyi claims that Tyranny of Number, a phrase he coined to refer to political strength of Jubilee government in 2013, may not work in this year’s polls.
Ngunyi says that voters from Jubilee strongholds may not have passion to vote due to lack of unifying factor.
“Tyranny of numbers was generous gift from gods and it was not deserved. It was just a pain killer given by gods to ease the agony of 2007 war. They assumed that 2017 is an automatic for Jubilee and 2022 is a forgone conclusion for William Ruto. Zero,” says Ngunyi in his latest prediction in the Sunday Standard.
“Tyranny of magic is dead. There is no object of aggression like the International Criminal Court (ICC) charges against Uhuruto. I doubt that GEMA and Kalenjin nations will wake up at dawn, ferry the sick to the polling stations in wheelbarrows in order to protect Uhuru presidency,” he adds.
However, Ngunyi says Uhuru can still retain presidency but forced into a grand coalition government with opposition leader Raila Odinga.
