Boda boda and tuk tuk operators in Eldoret town have petitioned the Uasin Gishu County government to construct sheds and parking bays for them.

The operators complain that they lack specific parking spaces and this has hampered their work. The operators said on Sunday that they have presented their complaint to the County government but nothing has been forthcoming.

Nehemiah Okumu, the Eldoret Bodaboda Association's Secretary General said that with the heavy rains, operators are forced to close business early. “We are being rained on because we have no sheds, it is so unfortunate yet we pay levies to the County government,” said Okumu.

Okumu urged the Uasin Gishu government to establish sheds to save them the agony of being rained on.The Secretary General further asked the government to construct parking’s for riders. He noted that operators have no specific parking’s are often fined by the county for parking at wrong places. The operators have give County government two weeks to have their grievances addressed failure to which they will hold demonstrations in the town.
