The County Government of Uasin Gishu on Monday trained caregivers on cash transfer for orphans and vulnerable children.
The training which was held at the county hall was meant to educate the caregivers from Kapseret and Kesses constituencies on the need for regular and predictable monthly cash payment.
Julius kemboi, the director from children department in the County said that the implementation of cash transfer will give support to households taking care of orphans and vulnerable children.
“We are training caregivers on how to manage the issues of wealth and funds meant for the orphans and vulnerable children,” said kemboi.
Kemboi added that the caregivers are required to form a location committee, elected by the beneficiaries to monitor the misuse of funds and report the welfare of the caregivers to the department.
“The caregivers are required to form a beneficiary welfare committee that will be reporting to us of any case of misuse of funds, or death of the caregiver so that as a department we get to know the wellbeing of the caregivers,” said Kemboi.
He also added that they are informing the caregivers on their change of cash transfer payment mode.
“We are also enlightening them on the new payment method. We formally used postal cooperation but we changed to biometric identification of the beneficiaries whereby we use payment card from KCB,” said Kemboi.
