Church leaders in Uasin Gishu county have warned aspirants for various elective positions against engaging in activities that might cause violence during the ongoing campaigns.

Uasin Gishu Gospel Ministers fellowship chairman Bishop Wilson Kirui says they will not tolerate any aspirant found to be fanning violence.

Speaking in Eldoret,Tuesday, Bishop Kurui challenged politicians to avoid utterances that might cause divisions and instead focus on preaching peace and unity.

"We want to tell politicians to do their campaigns in peace and avoid and avoid anything that might ignite political temperatures," noted the Jesus is Love Ministries leader.

"When you stand in a pulpit and start inciting youths to cause violence, we will mobilise all our resources and ensure we pull you down," he added.

Bishop Kurui further challenged other church leaders to be in the lead in preaching peace and cohesion during their church services.

"As we aproach the general election we want all religious leaders to always be taking a moment and preach peace before they start sharing the word of God to their members," said Bishop Kurui.
