Speaking to journalists on Thursday at his Eldoret office, Mohammed said that the county is among counties that have fully embraced Nyumba Kumi.

Mohammed noted that cases of crime have gone down, with only 480 cases being reported since January this year.

“Crime rate in Uasin Gishu has reduced drastically with only 480 cases being reported compared to 2000 cases similar period last year,” said Mohammed.

The commissioner said that most of the crimes reported are petty, ranging pick pocketing, fighting and muggings.

Mohammed further attributed the reduction to frequent patrols and surveillance by law enforcers.

He said that most parts of the county are guarded and patrolled on 24 hour basis, adding that the provision of security patrol vehicles and motorbikes have helped curb crime.

The Uasin Gishu Commissioner vowed to streamline security and deal with few criminals who are still posing a threat.
