The County Assembly of Uasin Gishu on Thursday adjourned its sittings as Kenyans prepare to elect new Members of the Assembly (MCAs).

Just like the National Assembly and the Senate, County Assemblies across the country will not be dissolved ahead of the polls but will also proceed for Sine Die Adjournment.

This means the current MCAs can be recalled to the Assembly anytime should there be an issue of importance to the county that needs to be discussed.

"The Assembly's leader of majority and minority have a right to request (in writing) for a special sitting and in such an event I would consider the merits and demerits of the request and act accordingly," said the Assembly Speaker Isaac Terer while precising over the session.

"In the event there is no request for a special sitting, this assembly will stand adjourned until the first session of the next Assembly," he added.

The County Assembly of Uasin Gishu was ranked as the best performing in the country in terms of the number of bills and motions passed.

According to Assembly's leader of majority Josphat Lowoi, for the past 4 years, they passed 38 bills, 412 motions, 102 reports and handled 10 petitions.
