Uasin Gishu County government is poised to raise Sh1 billion revenue in the 2017-2018 financial year. CeC in charge of Finance Shadrack Sambai said they have put in place measures to ensure that the target is achieved. "We will automate our revenue collection, introduce M-pesa pay bill, connect internet in all Ward offices and sensitise the public on the importance of paying county levies. We want to seal all corruption loopholes," he said after tabling the 2017/2018 budget, Thursday."The county government will also map all businesses in the county and improve surveillance through the use of CCTV. We won't allow even a single cent to go astray," he added. He however, urged wananchi to develop a habit of paying county revenue without being followed. In the 2016/2017 financial year, the county government of Uasin Gishu managed to collect Sh800 million revenue amid a target of Sh1 billion.
