According to the CeC in charge of Health Margaret Chepkwony, the move is geared towards ensuring that the child is not interrupted while learning.

"The programme will help to solve the problems that school going child experience that is missing out lessons because of experiencing monthly periods,” she said.

Speaking at Kaplelach Secondary School during the distribution of the towels on Tuesday, Chepkwony said lack of the towels not only leads to absenteeism, but also leaves them exposed to infections.

"Girls who cannot access sanitary miss classes for an average of six days in every month, which in the long run affect their class performance,” she said.
