Uasin Gishu County Secretary Peter Leley has been appointed the Intergovernmental Relations Technical Committee (IGTRC) Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Lelei’s appointment was ratified and adopted during the sixth National and County Government Co-ordinating Summit that was held on June 22, 2018, at the State House Nairobi.
According to resolutions reached during the meeting, ITGRC’s tenure that has lapsed was also extended for three months to September 22, 2018 “to allow for consultations”.
“That the proposal to the Summit to approve the appointment of Peter K. Leley as the CEO of IGTRC be and is hereby ratified and adopted,” reads part of the 12-point resolutions that were signed by Devolution Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalawa and Council of Governors (CoG) Vice Chair, Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru.
Leley has served as the County Secretary of Uasin Gishu since 2013 under the leadership of governor Jackson Mandago who opted to allow continue serving in the same docket after winning re-election in the August 8, 2017 polls.
IGTRC is a body formed to establish a framework for consultation and co-operation between the National and County governments. It was further mandated to take over the residual functions of the Transition Authority (TI).
