Uasin Gishu County MCAs have been challenged to come up with Bills and policies that if passed will benefit and improve the welfare of the county residents.
Speaking at a Youth Forum in Eldoret town on Friday, the County Assembly Speaker Isaac Terer said that MCAs have the power of changing the lives of the people for the better through proper legislation.
Speaker Terer said that good laws are the get-way to realisation of socio-economic and political development.
“I urge Uasin Gishu MCAs to come up with laws that will improve the lives of our citizens, said Terer, noting that the County Assembly has passed more than 30 important Bills this year alone.
He said that MCAs, apart from providing an oversight role, must also work for the people that elected them to positively transform their lives.
Terer said that development is the key responsibility of every leader whether elected, appointed or nominated He further urged that MCAs should always remain united and work with the executive to promote development.
He noted that the Assembly enjoys good working relationship with the County Executives. “I think Uasin Gishu County Assembly is one of the few Assemblies that work closely with County Executives,” said Speaker Terer.
He noted that wrangles among county leaders will only derail realisation of development, adding that county leaders across the country should accommodate each other’s views if development is to be realised.
The County Assembly Majority Leader Josphat Lowoi on his part said that Uasin Gishu county MCAs will remain united. He urged area residents to support the county government as it seeks to promote development.
The Majority leader urged residents, especially youths, to desist from acts that will put them in trouble and instead work with the county to realise development.
