Uasin Gishu government will carry out a security audit in all universities, colleges and schools with the aim of coming up with appropriate safety measures, County Commissioner Abdi Mohammed has said.

The commissioner said he has directed all deputy commissioners to compile a detailed security report on each and every learning institution in the county.

Speaking to journalists in Eldoret on Friday, the commissioner said the county will make sure that security is heightened in all learning institutions.

“We have embarked on a serious mission which is to audit security in learning institutions and come up with appropriate measures to guarantee safety of students,” said Mohammed.

The Uasin Gishu Commissioner urged school management boards to work with the county as it seeks to put in place proper security measures.

Mohammed further asked school management boards to put in place safety measures for students. He said the county security officials will provide expertise on how proper safety measures in schools.

Meanwhile, the county commissioner has advised residents to remain on alert and report crime cases. He said that security will be heightened across towns, estates and villages in 24-hour patrols.
