The government should empower the National Construction Authority (NCA), says Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno.
Chemno said the construction regulatory body should be given mandate to arrest those found breaching construction laws.
"National Construction Authority should be given mandate and power to arrest anybody found doing building construction illegally,". Chemno said.
He addressed the press at Boma Inn Hotel in Eldoret town on Friday.
Chemno said the offenders need to be arrested and punished so that they can be responsible .
He said the long electioneering period had affected the government's operations hence delayed funds to pay workers and contractors in county governments.
Chemno advised investors to look for certified and qualified contractors asserting unapproved projects will not be allowed in Uasin Gishu County.
He said land grabbing and illegal ownership of public utility will be ruthlessly dealt with.
Chemno said any building on land that was originally a public utility will not be approved.
