Uasin Gishu County government has dominated the 2017 Rift Valley regional festivals that are currently underway Nanyuki Social Hall in Laikipia County with 17 teams which is a big number compared to other county governments in the region
Speaking on Monday when she attended the opening of the competitions in Laikipia, Sports executive Eunice Kerich said that after successful performances during the county festivals, the county government of Uasin Gishu stands out as the only county to sponsor the highest number of teams to the regional competitions.
The event themed "fostering national values, cohesion, integration and cultural tourism" is aimed at promoting peace and co-existence as well as improving the state of security in the region which has experienced several cases of ethnic battles and cattle rustling.
“The seventeen teams are in Laikipia courtesy of the able leadership of Governor Jackson Mandago,” said Kerich.
The event that kicked off on Monday at Nanyuki Social Hall is scheduled to end on Thursday with successful teams proceeding to the national levels which will be held in Kakamega County early next month.
