Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Abdi Hassan has urged village and community elders to partner with security agencies to fight insecurity.
Speaking when he met Kalenjin elders at his office on Tuesday, Mohammed said that the county security committee is ready to work with community elders.
The Commissioner noted that every mechanism is being drafted and used to ensure safety of residents.
“We are counting on the support of community elders even as we seek to guarantee security,” he said.
Mohammed noted that elders understand what is taking place in their respective localities, saying their support will enhance safety.
The Uasin Gishu County commissioner said a committee comprising of community elders will be formed to seek their views on matters security.
Meanwhile, the commissioner has urged residents to remain alert.
Mohamed urged locals to report suspicious characters and people to the police immediately for action to be taken.
He said that the county has put in place required measures including 24 hour patrols to promote security.
