Farmers in Uasin Gishu county have condemned the Jubilee government over its failure to pay for the produce delivered to the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB).Led by the Kenya Farmers Association (KFA) Uasin Gishu branch director Kipkorir Menjo, the farmers lamented that they had not been paid since they delivered their maize about two months ago."As farmers from this region we are really disappointed with the Jubilee administration for deceiving us that we will be paid promptly, surely how do they want us to survive without the pay," lamented Menjo while addressing the press in Eldoret town on Wednesday. Before NCPB begun receiving maize from farmers, the then Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Willy Bett said they would be paid within a day of delivery. The farmers also warned the government against importing cheap maize from neighboring countries and abroad."We are calling upon the national government to stop any plans of importing maize because farmers still have a lot of maize at their disposal. Let them buy our maize first before thinking of importing," noted Menjo.
