Uasin Gishu County government on Tuesday held a meeting with the members of Kenya for Peace and Reconciliation team to converse a way forward on the issues of insecurity.

The meeting that incorporated Christian and Muslim priests settled on an agreement to form an inter-faith committee, which will help deal with the issues of insecurity.

Speaking to journalists at the county headquarters, reverend Geoffrey Sangok said that the formed commission will be meeting severally to discuss the way forward, on how to deal with the insecurity in the country.

“We have chosen a committee council of elders, county assembly, Muslims and Christians and the security team to deal with the matter of insecurity in the county,” said Sangok.

He further added that the committee will help dialogue a way forward on how to deal and handle insecurity in the region.

 Ali Mzee, a Muslim cleric said that terrorism should not be related with any religion or tribe.

“Terrorism and radicalization should not be related with any religion. We should not allow ourselves to be divided in terms of religion,” said Mzee.

The committee will have a meeting with other religious leaders, especially from the north eastern part of the country, so as to get the solution to increased cases of Radicalization and terrorism in the country.
