This is an increase of Sh400 million from the funds received in the last financial year.

According to the Uasin Gishu County Assembly Speaker David Kiplagat, the funds will help enhance development projects for the locals.

He, however, expressed concerns over regular delays to release the money to devolved units.

“We have received the allocation but we wish the National Government should transfer the county government funds for us to spur the economic activities in the county," noted Kiplagat in Eldoret on Thursday.

He said that the county was facing major challenges since the National Government was failing to devolve enough funds.

“From the last financial year of 2017/ 2018 less than 30 percent of county allocation has been transferred meaning issuing of salaries will delay and developments will wait till funds are transferred," noted the County Assembly Speaker.

He further blamed lack of efficiency in the county's revenue department and promised that they were in the process of re-engineering best system to aid in the collection of counties revenue.

“We are putting in places a watertight mechanism to seal the loopholes in the county,” said Kiplagat.

“We are hoping to raise local revenue collection from Sh880 million to Sh1.2 billion this financial year," he added.
