Uasin Gishu County government on Thursday held a county breakfast prayer meeting at the county headquarters.
Speaking during the function, which coincided with the national prayer breakfast meeting in Nairobi, Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago said the prayer meeting was meant to give special thanks to the creator for his guidance.
“We have been planning this meeting for a long time until our county assembly passed a motion to hold the prayers today,” said Mandago.
Mandago said that the country is facing so many challenges in terms of security noting that this calls for special dedication through prayers.
“We want to pray to God to change those individuals who are planning evil against this nation,” said Mandago.
The governor said that a country can thrive in peace and unity if its citizens are dedicated to prayers.
Pastor Thomas Bor, who was the chief guest speaker, said that the county government has laid a great foundation by involving God in its development.
“I want to congratulate the county government for coming up with such a good idea. It is a great foundation for prosperity,” said Bor.
The meeting, whose theme was “work together for prosperity” brought together religious leaders, county staff and residents from Uasin Gishu.
