Presiding officers and clerks who participated in Jubilee party primaries in Uasin Gishu on Tuesday held a protest in Eldoret town demanding to be paid their dues.
The more than 300 presiding officers and clerks who had gathered at Moiben Sub-county tallying center said they had been assured by the party officials that their payments would be made immediately the exercise comes to an end but two months down the line, nobody has been paid.
Sharon Kimeli, one of the presiding officers claimed Jubilee party officials on the ground have been taking them in circles over the matter.
"We've tried to inquire for the payments from the county party officials but they keep telling us to wait. Two months have gone and there is no indication that we would be paid soon, this is why we have been left with the option of protesting," noted Kimeli.
However, Uasin Gishu county Jubilee party co-coordinator Sammy Ruto said the matter was being handled by the national secretariat.
"This issue is out of our hands and the finances are always handled at the national level," he said. Jubilee party held its nominations across the country at the of April.
