Political leaders in Uasin Gishu county have send their message of condolences following the death of once powerful minister Nicholas Biwott.

Led by Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno, the leaders named Biwott as a formidable politician who worked towards ensuring locals livelihoods are transformed.

Speaking at the county headquarters in Eldoret town, Tuesday, Chemno said Biwott's death is a great loss to not only the people of Uasin Gishu and Elgeyo Marakwet counties but also to the whole country.

"I have known him for over 30 years since he was MP for Keiyo South where he built many schools, churches and helped the needy go to school by clearing their fees," noted Chemno.

Similar sentiments were shared by the Uasin Gishu Woman MP Jubilee nominee Gladys Boss Shollei who said: "Through him many youths were employed and many families livelihoods improved."

Uasin Gishu gubernatorial candidate on an Independent ticket Zedekiah Bundotich popularly known Buzeki also sent a message of condolence terming Biwott as a great man.

"Its with profound shock that I have received news of the death of Former Minister Nicholas Biwott. I join the rest of Kenyans in mourning this great Man. Let's pray for the family at this difficult times," Buzeki posted on his official Facebook page.
