The Uasin Gishu County Assembly has adjourned its sittings to allow members go for a long recess.

Assembly Speaker David Kiplagat informed the Members of County Assembly (MCAs) on Thursday that they had to take a 67-day break as per calendar.

The break comes just a day after passing a motion that asks the executive arm of county government to ensure all supermarkets provide alternative and free carrier bags to their customers.

The MCA's while passing the motion argued that Supermarket were subjecting their customers to health risks by stuffing all manner of goods in one bag unlike before the ban on plastic bags where detergents and foodstuff were put in separate bags.

Several other motions have also been passed by the MCA's since the start of the first session of the second Uasin Gishu County.

MCAs also vetted and approved the nomination of 10 County Executive Committee members (CeCs) by governor Jackson Mandago who was sworn in last Friday.

The Assembly will resume its sittings on Tuesday, February 13, 2018.
