Members of Uasin Gishu County Assembly are on Tuesday, September 5, scheduled to hold their first sitting where they will be sworn into office before electing the Speaker.
The MCAs, both elected and nominated, were today, Monday, being oriented ahead of their swearing in.
According to Assembly Clerk Richard Chepkonga, the swearing in of the MCAs will begin at 10am.
"The governor, according to our standing orders has appointed September 5th as the day for the first sitting where the MCAs will take oath of office before electing their Speaker," Chepkonga said while in his office at the County Assembly buildings, Monday.
He said nine people have submitted their applications for the office of the Speaker.
The nine include three women, Ruth Jemutai Rop, Mary Jerop Kiptoo and Jane Masai Cheptoo as well as incumbent Isaac Terer and Christopher Mitei who lost to Terer in 2013.
Others who applied for the seat are Ezekiel Kiyeng, David Kiplagat, Ham Kiplimo and Dennis Kirwa.
