Members of Uasin Gishu County Assembly have passed a motion that will see them from a Social Welfare Organisation.
The organization according to the MCA's will help address their social, financial and other related issues.
While moving the motion, nominated MCA Ann Lagat noted that there are many individual issues affecting them that can only be addressed through the formation of the welfare organization.
"Lack of such organization affects the performance of members as they cannot effectively concentrate on their mandate due to several personal emerging issues," noted Lagat.
The motion was seconded by another nominated MCA Rose Kisama. When the floor was opened for debate, majority of the MCA's supported the motion saying they also had a right to form a Social Welfare Organization.
"We as MCA's need to have our own association doing our own contributions so that whenever we have issues we can help out," said Karuna Mibeki MCA Josphat Lowoi who is also the Assembly's leader of majority.
However Langas MCA Francis Muya was the only one to oppose the motion saying there was no time for such an organization to help them them.
"We don't have time to put in place an effective organization now keeping in mind that it's just a matter of months before the end of our time," said Muya.
