Muslim leaders in Nandi county have urged Kenyans to embrace love and preach peace and unity even as the campaigns for the August general elections officially begins, Sunday.
Led by Nandi Hills Jamia Mosque chairman Abdi Noor Muhammed Omar, the leaders reiterated the need for the county to remain peaceful especially as political temperatures are expected to rise across the country.
Omar asked Muslims as well as Christians to pray for the peace and unity if the country.
Speaking at Eldoret's Jamia mosque, Friday, Omar further warned politicians against engaging in divisive politics and advised Kenyans to shun such leaders.
"This country is bigger than an individual and as Kenyans we should not allow a politician to divide us on tribal, regional, political or religious lines," noted Omar.
"Both Muslims and Christians need to spare some time and pray for the unity of this country as the campaigns are always a very challenging period," he added.
