The Kenya National Union of Nurses (KNUN) national chairman John Bii now says nurses in Uasin Gishu county are not taking part in the ongoing strike.

Bii who doubles up as the Uasin Gishu branch KNUN secretary general further says nurses in majority of the counties are not part of the strike which he has already termed as illegal.

"I want to thank nurses in Uasin Gishu for continuing with their service delivery to Kenyans and I know many many of the nurses in other counties have also not downed their tools," noted Mr. Bii while addressing the press at the Uasin Gishu District Hospital in Eldoret town, Tuesday.

He insisted that the nurses strike which begun on Monday is illegal as it was not sanctioned as per the set Union regulations.

"I am mandated to chair all National Governing council meeting and I cannot recall chairing any meeting sanctioning the reactivation of this strike," noted Mr. Bii.

The nurses have downed their tools demanding the implementation of a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) they signed with the Council of Governors.
