Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Abdi Hassan has revealed that police are investigating claims that some politicians have transported youth from other areas into the county with an intention of using them to cause violence during campaigns.

Speaking to the press in Eldoret, Wednesday, Hassan however said initial probe indicated there was no evidence to prove the claims.

Governor Jackson Mandago recently said youth from Naivasha, Nakuru and Nyahururu had been illegally moved to Eldoret to interfere with the August 8 polls.

"This is an old tired theme that always crops up during an election period. However we don't want to take chances, we will be able to investigate but I can tell you for sure that as at now we've not found any evidence but we are not going to rule out anything until we see what will be the outcome of the investigations underway," noted Hassan.

He further assured locals that their maximum security will be guaranteed especially as campaigns for the general elections begin.

"As a county security team in this county we are ready to deal with any security challenge we may face during this elections period," assured the County Commissioner.
