Religious leaders from Uasin Gishu County have supported President Uhuru Kenyatta and NASA leader Raila Odinga's move to work together.
The leaders through the Uasin Gishu CIPK chairman Abubakar Bini said the unity will bring together Kenyans since the country is divided based on tribal and political affiliations after the hotly contested presidential elections.
“As religious leaders from the region we want to congratulate the two leaders for this bold decision, it will bring peace and end politics which has been the order of the day,” Bini said.
He addressed the press in Eldoret town on Saturday.
“It is very encouraging that the two leaders have decided to bury their hatchet and work together, this is a sign of statesmanship and will help the country move forward,” said the Uasin Gishu Gospel Ministers chairman Bishop Wilson Kurui.
They, however, urged the two leaders to hold joint peace campaigns aimed at bringing Kenyans together.
“Since the two leaders have decided to work together they should conduct peace campaigns across the country for Kenyans to forget what transpired in the hotly contested presidential elections and move forward,” Bini said.
“Kenyans should now work as brothers and sisters, they should not allow politicians to divide them based on their political or tribal cocoons,” Kurui said.
