Schools head teachers should respect and embrace their student’s religious affiliation since it is their right as guaranteed in Kenyans constitution.

Speaking today in his office Uasin Gishu county deputy governor Daniel Chemno condemned Arnesens High School in Burnt Forest for sending home 18 students in the name of them being Seventh day Adventist believers.

“Last year 20 students were sent home on the same ground and Uasin Gishu county will not relent until that exercise is stopped once and for all since every Kenyan has the right of worship and you cannot turn a school to one religious organization,” he said

He added that the purported students have been expelled for over two months which is against the law and students right to education and urged the county director of education to intervene with immediate effect to bring sanity in the school.

“The county director for education should work at speed and I warn other institution with similar taboo that their days are number and soon they will be brought to book,” he said.

County Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) executive Secretary, John Boor said the move by the institution is unethical an unwarranted in this time and age where everyone has the right to any religious organization.

“We are carrying out through investigations and if it will be found that it is true stern actions will be taken against the concerned school management,” he reiterated.
