Uasin Gishu County lived up to its 'The Champions' tag after it was awarded first runners-up among 20 counties that participated in the recently concluded Kenya National Music Festivals held in Kakamega County.

The festivals that came to a close on Thursday saw teams from Uasin Gishu scooping a total of 15 different trophies.

Sisto team had the highest mark in the festival after scoring 92 percent to win trophies for the best folk song and best in class 703X.

Kalya team were honoured for having most presentations and won trophies for performing Marakwet and Pokot traditional songs.

The best university title went to Moi university who were also best in class 500A and set pieces while University of Eldoret (UoE) team were awarded trophies for emerging best in Zilizopendwa category and also singled out as the best team with female voices.

Education for life team were lauded for performing best in Kuria and Kisii songs while Nandi cultural team were chosen as the best male team to perform a cultural song.

Uasin Gishu County assembly team was ranked the best county assembly in the festival and Uasin Gishu County Choir were crowned for having best own arrangements during the event and more so performing best in Nandi folk song.
