Uasin Gishu has been selected as the first County by the Kenya Institute Of Supplies Management (KISM) to serve as a model case study on the training of Procurement and supply officers in the county.
This is in a bid to springboarding procurement services across the country, especially in devolved units.
Speaking on Friday when he hosted a team from KISM, Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno assured them of the County's support adding that the training will enable the County officers perfect in the various areas.
Chemno lauded the County's department on what he said has been incorporating other sections on matters procurement.
"As the administration, we granted officers the responsibilities of handling various sections. This saw smooth running and handling of matters in an organized way..." said the Deputy governor.
"...the procurement act is very clear. It is for that reason that as a County we came up with project management committees that looked upon all projects," he added.
Chemno further said the county's over 580 Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) classrooms and 27 bridges constructed across the county is a clear indication that the administration was and still is working.
"A complete classroom with ceiling costs Sh600,000. This and bridges outweighed what was done for many years before devolution," he reiterated.
KISM national chairman Eng. Chris Oanda lauded Uasin Gishu's projects on what he termed as "among professionals, the County's story is well told."
