Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago has promised to supply piped water to residents before the end of this year, because water shortage is among challenges facing Uasin Gishu residents.

The Governor noted that many locals have no access to piped water with many being forced to buy from vendors.

“We know and understand the problems most Uasin Gishu people are going through to access clean water, the county government has taken various steps that will see locals’ access clean water,” he said.

Mandago revealed that the county government has set aside Sh40M in its next financial year to work on projects that will see locals get water.

He said that the county water ministry has started plans of rehabilitating water sources across the county.

The Uasin Gishu Governor noted that water is a basic human right that should be provided to the people at all times.

He at the same time urged the Eldoret Water and Sewerage Company to lower its rates so that more locals can access tap water.
