Speaking to the press yesterday while at his office in Eldoret town, Joseph Tanui who is the Chairman of the Public Service Board said that 172 nurses will be hired, 27 pharmacists,  67 clinical officers, and 41 laboratory technicians.

"Most of our hospitals have shortages of health workers and it is for this reason that we want to hire more health workers so that our hospitals can have sufficient workers,” Tanui said.

Tanui said that the county government was also going to ensure that it upgraded one level three hospital into a level four hospital in each and every sub county in the county.

"We want to ensure that each Level 3 hospital in each sub county is totally upgraded into a Level 4 hospital. This will go a long way when it comes in ensuring that all the residents in the sub counties are able to get health services without having to travel long distances. Already the county government has set aside Sh120 million for the upgrades,” Tanui said.

Tanui went ahead and said that all the public hospitals will be stocked with all the equipment and drugs.
