Uasin Gishu County Governor Jackson Mandago has said that the county should fully dedicate its resources in developing technical institutions.

Speaking in Eldoret on Wednesday, Mandago said that the government should channel more funds to support technical education in the county.

“Technical education will only be improved if the government will establish a proper channel of industrial partnership to help build relevant skilled workforce,” said Mandago.

Mandago said that his county is willing to partner with technical institutions to provide technical education in the region.

“The country wants to capitalize in local companies in order to create job opportunities to our young people,” said Mandago.

He said that his county through its budget sponsor 600 students to technical colleges every year.

Isaiah Nyabiro, senior deputy secretary ministry of education science and technology said that the ministry is planning to build 130 training institutions country wide.

Nyabiro was speaking during an international conference on TVET and interdisciplinary Research at the Rift Valley Training institute.

The conference brought together academics and professionals from various disciplines to share latest research findings and brainstorm new research ideas across disciplines in regards to education and training.
