Uasin Gishu County Trade Executive, Philip Melly, have urged traders in the county to comply with county regulations.
Addressing journalists, Melly said that the traders must adhere to regulations when it comes to paying levies and taxes.
He said the county government will take action against hawkers who fail to remit their levies on time.
“Traders, hawkers and businessmen using county premises must ensure that they pay their levies on time,” said Melly.
The Trade official noted that delay in payment of levies have resulted to poor services.
“We are not punishing anyone by demanding for levies, it is constitutional that every Kenyan is supposed to pay tax,” noted Melly.
Melly said that the county depends on levies to fund its budget and run county activities.
The Trade executive also revealed that the county is consulting with investors who will pump money into the county.
He said they are open to both local and foreign investors who are willing to invest their county, Uasin Gishu.
Melly dismissed claims that investors are not willing to invest in the county because of high political temperatures especially during electioneering period.
He said the claims are unfounded and instead urged investors to invest in the county.
Melly assured investors and businessmen that their safety has been guaranteed, hence they should not fear.
