Former Judiciary chief registrar Gladys Boss Shollei was on Monday charged alongside seven others with abuse of office.
This is in connection with over Sh150 million supposedly for the building of the prefabricated court building in Tawa, Garsen and Mavoko without authorisation from the tender committee.
The Court heard that on January 17, 2013, in Nairobi, the accused, Shollei, former deputy registrar Kakai Kissinger, Martin Okwata, Benedict Omollo, Nicholas Okemwa, Nicholas Mbeba, Thomas Atak and Wyclife Obunde, being employees of the judiciary, mutually failed to act in accordance with the law concerning procurement, by unilaterally increasing the advance down payment for erection of court buildings, down from 10 per cent to up to 50 per cent.
The eight were charged after trial magistrate Liz Gacheha permitted the Director of Public Prosecutions to make some changes in the charge sheet.
Shollei is aspiring to be the Uasin Gishu Woman Representative come August 8.
