[Photo/ William Samoei Ruto]Women and youth have been challenged to form cooperatives and self-help groups.This is in what Deputy President William Ruto says will enable them to benefit from national and county governments subsidy loans geared towards empowering them.Speaking at his rural home in Sugoi, Turbo sub-county in Uasin Gishu when he presented chicks to women groups from the county Ruto noted that forming cooperatives and self-help groups will enable the two groups "aggregate value, boost earnings, ensure daily subsistence and start viable enterprises."The DP presented 20,400 chicks to 5,000 women poultry farmers from neighbouring wards in the county.Later he interacted with children from 35 orphanages in Eldoret town where he urged Kenyans to help the less fortunate in society, especially during this festive season."We recognise and pay special tribute to caregivers in children homes for their selfless service, sacrifice, and dedication in providing shelter and a family setting to disadvantaged children and orphans," said DP Ruto in a post on his official Facebook page after meeting the children."Let us spread the cheer, spirit of love and extend a helping hand to the less fortunate in society," he added.
