Uasin Gishu county youths have asked the State to boost security and deal with terrorism.

Speakig during a workshop at Eldoret town on Wednesday, county Youth Bunge Forum President Collins Kemboi said that the rising terror threats in some parts of the country are worrying.

Kemboi said that terror criminals have taken advantage of the porous borders to cause havoc in the country.

“Our appeal is to the government to urgently address the issue of insecurity and ensure Kenyans are safe,” he said.

The Youth leader also urged the government to increase security serveillance in all towns across the country in order to deal with criminals.

In Eldoret and adjacent towns, the Youth President alleged that criminals are roaming freely. He asked the police to deal with criminals who he said are posing a threat to the county’s economy.

He said that the Nyumba Kumi security initiative would work effectively if residents are well sensitized. “The security measures being taken by the government would work well if the people are engaged,” he added.

The Youth leader said that even though locals have a role to play in security matters, the government must take the leading role.

Kemboi asked the county leadership to work with the people and put an end to crime and other social challnges facing the people.
