Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago has urged youths and women in the county to be active and to work with the county government to improve their standard of living.
Speaking in Eldoret town, Mandago said that youth and women have a great role to play in development.
He said that the government has taken various steps like introduction of the Youth and Uwezo Funds to engage youths and women in development matters.
“Various projects and programmes have been initiated by government, therefore, I urge youth and women across Uasin Gishu County to step forward and take part in development matters to help improve our county together as a group,” said Mandago.
The governor intimated that Uwezo fund set aside by the national government should give youth and women an opportunity to prosper themselves.
Mandago added that such funds would go a long way in curbing unemployment and other challenges facing the society.
The governor assured that his government will implement policies that will create employment for youth and empower women.
Mandago said that women empowerment will help address high levels of poverty among them especially at grass root levels.
Mandago at the same time urged Uasin Gishu residents and Kenyans at large to maintain peace and pray for the country during this festive season.
