The secretary general of UASU Constantine Wasonga has made shocking revelations about the menace of missing marks that bedevils public universities across the country.
According to the high-ranking UASU official, the situation is caused by the failure of universities to pay part timers who then result to withholding marks.''Universities are now resorting to employing part timers and they are not paying these part timers. There are universities who have not paid part timers since 2013 and these part timers have resulted to withholding marks and that's why we have missing marks everywhere because how can I give you marks when you are not paying me,'' the angry UASU secretary general said.Constantine Wesonga spoke today before a parliamentary committee that has taken up the issue of lecturers strikes. The universities' workers have been on a strike triggered by what the say is a failure by the government and universities' administrations to honour an agreement.Mr. Wesonga pleaded with the MPs to help resolve the outstanding issues.
