The Universities Academic Staff Union will on Tuesday, February 14 present to Parliament and the National Treasury a petition challenging government's Sh10 billion offer to end their strike.

In a press statement, UASU Secretary General Dr Constantine Wasonga said the lecturers’ strike was still on, until the government implements the 2013-2017 collective bargaining agreement.

“This Tuesday, 14th February; UASU members will present a Petition to the Treasury and Parliament, in accordance with the terms under Articles 37, 94, 95 and 96 of the Constitution of Kenya. I request all Dons in the environs of Nairobi to assemble to the Graduation Square University of Nairobi at 8 am for a grand peaceful march to Parliament to present a Petition,” Dr Wasonga said on Sunday.

“Tomorrow, UASU members should attend Union meetings at campuses all over the country and firmly resolve to continue the strike until the 2013-2017 CBA is negotiated, signed, registered and implemented.”

He said UASU will today (Monday) attend a negotiation meeting with IPUCCF at 2 pm; during which it will formally reject the Sh10 billion counter-offer to all varsity staff.

Dr Wasonga said the offer translates into a paltry 3 per cent compounded increment on basic salary and 1.6 per cent increment on house allowance.

The UASU boss said the union was ready to negotiate a dignified offer to the Dons, based on a structured salary pay scale
