A section of Uber drivers in Mombasa has protested over falling returns. 

More than 300 drivers expressed concerns over the low rates they are charging clients.The drivers threatened to down their tools if the management does not address their grievances.Speaking to journalists, Mombasa Uber Partners group Chairman Evanson Mbugua said that the low rates charged cannot allow them to maintain their vehicles and service their loans. The drivers said they used to make up to Sh3000 daily but after the rates were changed, they hardly manage to collect Sh1000 from the business.“We have aired our grievances severally with the management in Nairobi. We have gathered here today to put the management on notice that we will down tools on Thursday if the rates we charge clients on different routes are not reviewed,” said Mbugua, as quoted by kbctv.co.ke.The drivers have called upon the management in Nairobi to increase the rates and ensure they are in line with the current market rates. “'Tuktuks are charging their clients more than we do yet we offer better services,” said the drivers.
