Uchumi supermarkets have closed some of its branches countrywide as shoppers are left with thousands of unanswered questions and many left jobless.

According to the Uchumi CEO, Julius Kipngetich, the closure is aimed at benefitting the branch of supermarkets in terms of making profits.

The branches that have been closed down include; Nakuru branch, Embu, Taj Mall, Kisii and Eldoret Sunderland branch that was closed down on Tuesday.

"Closure is aimed to improve the performance in the country. We are closing some branches to remain with few branches for easy operation to achieve the gain. This will also reduce operational costs," said Kipngetich.
