Uchumi Supermarket has denied claims that it sacked two of its employees who served the opposition leader, Raila Odinga.
This is after rumours spread on social media alleging the two, Beth Musau, and Winnie Musumba, were fired by the supermarket for attending to the National Super Alliance (Nasa) presidential candidate, during his visit to one of its branch in Westlands.
In a letter dated June 21, the Uchumi management confirmed that the two workers were still working for them adding that they were in fact congratulated for the good work they did.
“It has come to our attention that there’s a rumour being peddled on social media sites claiming that Beth Musau, an Uchumi assistant Cashier and Winnie Musumba, who served the leader of Opposition Hon. Raila Odinga on Sunday at our Westlands branch have been fired,” read part of a statement from Uchumi management.
“We hereby confirm that Beth Musau, and Winnie Musumba who both attended to Hon. Raila Odinga are still employees of Uchumi Supermarkets and the Uchumi management congratulated them for a job well done,” the management added.
