Uasin Gishu county government will sponsor the elderly aged above 70 years, so as to be registered with the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF).

Governor Jackson Mandago said the initiative would ensure the elderly in the society have access to quality health services.

"Beginning next financial year, we will sponsor elderly above 70 to get NHIF cards to help them get medication," said Mandago during his visit in Ngeria, Tuesday.

The governor further reiterated his administration's commitment to addressing unemployment that has been on the rise especially among youths.

"We need to equip young people with skills for them to get self employment," he noted.

Mandago further said in the 2016/2017 financial year, his administration would give priority to provision of to the locals.

"Every public utility should be connected with water. We will also initiate an initiative dubbed last water connectivity so as to ensure every households is connected with piped water," the governor said.
