A visiting delegation of Ugandan councillors from Jinja municipal council have lauded the East African community relationship saying it has helped a lot in ensuring that people and goods move freely from one country to another.
Speaking in Nakuru county when they paid courtesy call to deputy governor Dr. Erick Korir on their bench-marking trip, deputy mayor of Jinja municipality Judy Mbabazi Asiimwe reiterated the need for the leaders to continuously engage each other to enhance economic and social expansion of its citizens.
"We are glad that we came all the way from Uganda and we have been received well, we appreciate the kind of respect we can have for each other as members of the countries without having bias about our nationality," she said.
Mbabazi, who was leading a delegation of 63 leaders drawn from the municipality and the national government, said that owing to the similar structures of governance, resources and infrastructure, they will benefit mutually in exchanging ideas and concepts of fostering the best practices in leadership.
Dr. Korir while appreciating the visitors for choosing the county to do bench-marking called on them to continuously focus on developing and sustaining brands of products like Jinja textiles that dominated the clothing industry for a very long period of time.
