According to Bukedi regional police spokesperson Sowali Kamulya, Emaase was campaigning in Amagoro village of Buteba Sub-County, Busia district.

“You can’t cross from Kenya to Uganda purposely to campaign and recruit voters in a foreign country, which is illegal," he said.

“Police got information that she was campaigning in that area but as soon as she sighted them, she managed to escape back to Kenya but police managed to arrest her bodyguard,” Kamulya added.

PC Geoffrey Atwaine, the said bodyguard, is in detention with Busia police as investigations continue.

However, Ms Emaase on Tuesday denied the allegations in Parliament and said that the reports were just "mere propaganda".

“What you have heard on social media is mere propaganda,” she said when making a contribution in the National Assembly.
