A Ugandan woman was Thursday arraigned before a Thika court for being in the country illegally. Morson Mbugoma was accused of being in the country illegally and a second count of making false declaration in a bid to obtain a passport. Mbugoma denied being in Kenya illegally saying she was married to a Kenyan citizen. In a case presided over by Chief Magistrate Nancy Muthuri, the court heard that Mbugoma did not have her Ugandan identification card when she went to apply for Kenyan credentials at the Immigrations office in Thika on April 6th this year. It is allegedly that the accused illegally obtained a Kenyan ID in contravention of Citizenship and Immigration Act of 2011. She was released on a Sh200,000 bond with a Kenyan surety of a similar amount. The matter will be mentioned on July 27 and heard on August 26, 2015.
