Ugandan defender Godfrey Walusimbi has signed a new two year extension deal with record 16 times Kenya Premier League (KPL) Champions Gor Mahia.
The new contract will now keep Walusimbi at the club until the end of 2019. The left-back's previous contract was coming to an end at the end of this month.
Gor Mahia’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Lodvick Aduda has expressed delight after Walusimbi’s move to remain at the club.
“We are delighted that he has decided to sign a new deal. Walusimbi is one of the best players we have in the team and having him with us for two more seasons is a big boost. He has served us diligently since 2014 and we are happy to continue with this association,” Aduda is quoted by Futaa.com
“Our plan from next year is to take this club to the next level. We've been dominant in the local scene for the last few seasons and it's now time to leave a mark in the continental scene and one of the ways to achieve that is by having quality playing unit,” he added.
The 28 year old player joined Gor Mahia in 2014 from Uganda’s Sports Club Villa. He follows in the footsteps of Harun Shakava, Jacques Tuyisenge and Ernest Wendo who all recently signed contract extensions with Gor Mahia.
Yesterday, Gor Mahia confirmed the signing of midfielder Humphrey Ochieng Mieno formerly of Tusker FC, and defender Wesley Onguso from Sofapaka on three year deals.
Apart from competing for local titles, Gor Mahia will also represent Kenya in the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Champions League next year.
