A Ugandan soldier working under the African Union Mission in Somalia (Amison) died at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport moments after landing.

The soldier who had been injured in Somalia had been airlifted to Nairobi in together with three others to seek specialized treatment.

Reports indicate that the United Nation aircraft carrying the injured landed at JKIA' terminal 2 at around 9:17pm but the soldier died 10 minutes later.

His death was pronounced by a Uganda People's Defence Forces Doctor, Captain Richard Mwase.

The peacemakers were injured when a landmine hit their vehicle, at Barawe south of Mogadishu.

The soldier has been identified as Amos Mugisha while his injured colleagues are Dennis Bwanika, Paul Kyakuse and Jimmy Okello. The deceased body was transferred to Lorna Funeral Home in Nairobi.
