Siaya County Administration Police Commandant Patrick Lumumba, noted that the raid targeted the police officers who were on patrol in the evening.

“It is true three officers were attacked by Ugandan soldiers and, as we speak, they have already been transferred to Namaingo from Hama island,” said Mr. Lumumba as quoted by Zipo news.

Reports indicate that the attackers were eight in number and approached the area using a boat after which they abducted the officers.

“They used a Kenyan boat to camouflage before ambushing our officers who thought they were Kenyan fishermen since they were in civilian,” Lumumba noted.

The act has been condemned by Bondo MP Gideon Ochanda, who said it’s unlawful to hold captive Kenyan security officers in the neighboring country.

“More than five hours after our police officers were attacked and hijacked by Ugandan soldiers, the government has not given any statement concerning the same,” said Ochanda as quoted by Zipo news.
